The W3C is an organization that functions to help to
develop and provide the basis for establishing standards
on the world wide web. They develop specifications,
guidelines, software and tools for individuals and
companies who pretty much have anything do with the
web, have a web site, do business on the web, from
thelone code-slinger to the biggest of the big internet
corporations...they all rely on the W3C to help us all
communicate in similar technological “voices”.
This organization also offers great services including
offering tutorials, developing software and is a hub
for the most up-to-date information on current web
standards.
W3C Markup Validation Service
A GREAT service that the W3C offers is that you can
check/validate your web site’s code for free (W3C
Markup Validation Service). It is the fastest way to for
web “code slingers” to check the validity of their code
(some programs, such as Adobe DreamWeaver will
validate web page code…but it is still a good idea to
run your site through the W3C for the most current
validation standards.)
Note that some validation errors do not necessarily
mean the back end web site code is invalid or won’t
function properly when launched (that doesn’t help,
does it?).
